Introducing farm business schools in Lebanon: fostering farmer decision-making and resilience

Topic :

The Farm Business School (FBS) initiative in Lebanon has shown remarkable success in bridging the gap between rural education and financial empowerment, drawing wide interest from grassroots farming communities and regional development agencies. Recognizing the potential of the FBS approach, the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture has integrated it into various programs to enhance agricultural productivity and financial literacy among farmers. The enthusiastic adoption by local farmers has led to the expansion of FBS, with further support and sponsorship from local municipalities and encouragement from both local and international NGOs aiming to replicate its success.

This robust pilot has now been incorporated into several FAO programs across Lebanon, proving the FBS model’s effectiveness in fostering sustainable agricultural practices and improving rural financial inclusion.
