A Beneficiary Perspective: Strengths, Challenges and Opportunities for Parametric Insurance in Fiji
Small holder farmers, persons with disabilities and MSMEs are amongst the beneficiaries of the climate and disaster risk parametric microinsurance pilot product launched in Fiji. Beneficiaries have welcomed the initiative as a means of faster and sustainable recovery of their farmlands and other assets in the aftermath of a natural disaster.
This publication explores the strengths, challenges and opportunities of the product based on the views and opinions of beneficiaries of the insurance product. The consensus among beneficiaries is the need for farming communities to invest in insurance products that offer protection against cyclonic damage and devastation from natural disasters.
