The Agricultural and Rural Finance (FAR) training programme

Monday, April 4, 2022 to Friday, April 29, 2022

*The deadline for application is February 18th

The Agricultural and Rural Finance (FAR) training programme is designed for managers of financial institutions and other inclusive finance actors in Africa who wish to develop financial products and services for the agricultural sector. It is organised by ADA (Appui au développement autonome), the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg (MAEE) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) through the CABFIN project.

The course is divided into two sessions: an introductory e-learning session, followed by a more in-depth in-person session. The courses are designed and delivered by experts in agricultural and rural finance. They will offer theoretical insights as well as practical examples based on real-life cases and international best practices.

Introductory e-learning session
The e-learning session will run for 4 weeks from 4 to 29 April 2022. Participants can follow the online courses at their own pace, at between 5 and 10 hours of work per week. The courses will be divided into two distinct parts:

-Part 1 “Financial Products and Markets” on market opportunities and product design, digital financial services for agricultural finance and financing mechanisms in agricultural value chains.

-Part 2 “Risk Management Strategies” addresses risk management in agricultural finance and agricultural insurance.

The e-learning session is complemented by webinars, quizzes, tests, case studies and forum discussions.

Intensive in-person session

The in-person session will take place during one week in the second half of 2022 in Luxembourg or in Africa.
This session is reserved for the 40 most assiduous participants in the e-learning session, who will be eligible for a scholarship.
