This CAFI-SSF Network webinar explores Fish Farmer Producer Organizations (FFPOs) as an emerging model for improving small-scale fish producers’ access to finance and markets in Asia. Small-scale fisheries employ around 60 million people directly and support the livelihoods of 490 million, yet fishers and fish farmers face fragmented production, weak bargaining power, limited access to finance, and rising climate and market risks. By organizing producers into legally recognized, member-owned enterprises, FFPOs can aggregate production, build collective assets, and strengthen ties with banks, microfinance institutions and development finance providers. The session draws on country experiences from Cambodia and Bangladesh, and, in line with the International Year of Women Farmers 2026, spotlights women-centric FFPOs as vehicles for inclusive financial services and women’s contributions across the fish value chain.
