The ADA Chair in Financial Law (Inclusive Finance) at the University of Luxembourg’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, together with Appui au Développement Autonome (ADA), a non-governmental organization in inclusive finance, and the European Investment Bank Institute, the educational arm of the European Investment Bank Group, launched in 2017 the Certificate in Law and Regulation of Inclusive Finance.
Entering its fourth year in 2020, the program is aimed at regulators, intermediaries and other inclusive finance organizations.
Course Modules:
- Overview of financial, inclusive finance and cross-border regulatory supervision.
- Law and ethics, including ethical investments and the impact of non-legal ordering on the practice of the law.
- Luxembourg and European investment vehicles and institutions that may be used for or supportive inclusive finance investments.
- Banking law, in particular deposit-taking and risk management, e-payment and FinTech for developing countries, and client and insolvency protection.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum Bachelor level (180 ECTS) or three academic years equivalent.
- English (B2 level).
- An interest in inclusive finance by justifying experience or publications in the field.
Fees:
This training is limited to a maximum of 25 qualified and motivated participants with different profiles. Half of the places offered will be granted to qualified applicants from developing countries in need of financial assistance. These students will receive scholarships as well as travel and accommodation support for their stay in Luxembourg. The other half of the places is subject to a EUR 6,000 tuition fee. This fee is used to fund scholarships for participants from developing countries.
