As part of the CAFI SSF Network’s Talk Series, this 15 October 2025 webinar gathered experts and practitioners to explore best practices in fisheries and aquaculture cooperatives across Africa and Asia-Pacific. Organized in collaboration with FAO, the International Cooperative Alliance-Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP), and the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the event spotlighted how cooperatives strengthen small-scale fishers’ access to finance, support sustainable fisheries, and enhance community resilience. Speakers shared successful cooperative models from India, Japan, Fiji, Gambia, and Senegal—ranging from financial services and collective marketing to value addition and climate resilience. The session emphasized the vital role of capacity building, government policy, and incubation centers in enabling small-scale fishers to thrive in increasingly complex environmental and economic contexts.
