The 69th Executive Committee meeting of Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA) and International Forum ‘Role of Rural and Agricultural Finance to achieve Sustainable Development Goals will be held in New Delhi, India, from 16 December to 18 December 2017.
The primary objective of this international forum is to realize the organic relationships between the Sustainable Development Goals and rural and agricultural finance systems to bring the desired changes to achieve the goals.
The secondary objective of the forum is to bring the global and regional think tank to provide comprehensive ideas and pathways to take up the right approaches by the financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region.
The international forum will also provide the APRACA member institutions and other participants an opportunity to build their capacity by strengthening their conceptual understanding of the evolving issues on the role of financial intermediaries to support the sustainable development goals and sharpening their skills in this area. It is expected that the presentations to be made by prominent resource speakers will expand the participants knowledge base on this highly topical development issue.
The forum will provide the participants a opportunity to exchange views on their own country specific issues relating to poverty reduction and role of the rural financial institutions on the aspects of livelihoods and food security.
The following are the areas covered in the international forum:
- Understand the organic relationship between rural and agricultural finance and Sustainable Development Goals;
- Rural and agricultural entrepreneurship as driver to efficient agricultural value chains;
- Leveraging ICT to mitigate risks in financing to agricultural activities and
- Issues and challenges of promoting rural and agriculture finance and markets.
It is expected that the policy forum will be attended by more than 80 international participants from the APRACA member institutions from 21 countries and approximately 40 participants from the host country India. The representations are expected from the Central Banks, Development Banks, Commercial Banks, Microfinance Institutions, International multilateral and Bilateral agencies, Technology providers and Educational and Research institutions from across Asia-Pacific for this milestone event.
